The range
Bohamet builds one door mechanism in many tightness and fire classes, so the choice comes down to what the opening has to hold back and whether it is in a fire boundary. The full range is below; each type is described in its own section.

A-class fire rated doors

The fire rated doors are the standard weathertight and watertight leaves with 60 mm of mineral wool under the cover in place of the 30 mm or none used elsewhere. That single change is what separates an A-class door from its plain equivalent, and it is why the A-class variants carry the same coaming, hinge and lock options as the rest of the range.
| Type | Class | Tightness | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| BOH.0335 | A0 / A30 / A60 | Weathertight | Mounting in the walls of ship superstructures |
| BOH.0340 | A0 / A30 / A60 | Watertight to 0.4 bar | Mounting in the walls of ship superstructures |
| BOH.0345.A60 | A60 | Watertight to 1.5 bar | Mounting in the walls of ship superstructures |
| BOH.0331.S | A60 | Weathertight | Steel door |
| BOH.0337.A60 | A60 | Watertight | Steel door |

| BOH.0010.A0 | A0 | Watertight | Hatch with central locking wheel |
| BOH.0411.A0 | A0 | – | Internal steel door |
A0, A30 and A60 are integrity and insulation classes under SOLAS II-2 and the FTP Code. Which one applies is set by the boundary the door sits in, not by the door — check it against the fire control plan before ordering.
Weathertight and spraytight doors

The weathertight door is the workhorse of the range and covers most superstructure openings. All are designed for mounting in the walls of ship superstructures and share one build: steel, aluminium or stainless steel; pins of the closures set in bronze sleeves; stainless steel hinge pins; hinges drilled for M10×1 grease nipples to DIN 3404 or DIN 71412; and a 40 × 20 mm rubber packing cord seal.
BOH.0102 is also built as a spraytight door where full weathertightness is not required. The differences between 0102, 0131, 0135, 0331 and 0335 are in the closure arrangement and the number of closing points — send the opening size and the class requirement and we will confirm the type.
Watertight doors

Four pressure ratings, and the closure changes with them. At 0.4 bar the door still closes on a lever; at 1.5 bar and above it takes a central locking wheel driving closures around the leaf. The coaming changes too — the higher-pressure doors move to a T-bar or heavy flat bar section with a larger corner radius.
| Type | Pressure | Closure | Fire class |
|---|---|---|---|
| BOH.0340 | 0.4 bar | Lever | – or A0 / A30 / A60 |
| BOH.0245 | 0.9 bar | Double door | – |
| BOH.0345 | 1.5 bar | Central locking wheel | – |
| BOH.0345.A60 | 1.5 bar | Central locking wheel | A60 |
| BOH.0350 | 3 bar | Central locking wheel | – |
| BOH.0337.A60 | – | Side door | A60 |
Coaming radius follows the pressure: R100/R66/R30/R0 on the weathertight and 0.4 bar doors, R116 on T-bar and R145 on flat bar for the 1.5 bar doors.
Hatches

Hatches are for mounting in the deck of ship superstructures. They lock in the open position, and the closure type is the main choice: a central locking wheel where the hatch has to be worked quickly from one point, dogs for a simple weathertight closure, or a wing (lifting) nut for the lightest arrangement.
| Type | Closure | Tightness |
|---|---|---|
| BOH.0010 | Central locking wheel | Weathertight |
| BOH.0011-0.4 | Central locking wheel | Watertight to 0.4 bar |
| BOH.0020 | Dogs | Weathertight |
| BOH.0030 / BOH.0040 | Wing (lifting) nut | Weathertight |
Hatch construction matches the doors — steel, aluminium or stainless steel, closure pins in steel sleeves, stainless steel hinge pins, closures and hinges drilled for M10×1 grease nipples, and a 40 × 20 mm rubber packing cord. Opening assistance is available as a counterweight (type 0011), torsion spring (0012) or gas spring (0013). Lock types are Z0 padlock fastening or Z4 stainless steel rim lock to DIN 81312; accessories are the LM-10D limit switch and a covered mechanism.
Double, electrical and internal doors

Double doors cover openings too wide for a single leaf: BOH.0231E is the electrically operated spraytight double door, BOH.0245 the watertight steel double door to 0.9 bar.
Electrically operated doors — BOH.0331E weathertight and BOH.0337 weathertight side door — suit openings that are worked often or have to be operated remotely.
Internal doors BOH.0110, BOH.0410 and the A0 class BOH.0411.A0 are for accommodation and internal boundaries, without the coaming and closure gear of an external door.
Technical specification

Every external door is ordered from the same menu. The hinge is worth noting: it adjusts in three axes, so the leaf can be trued up against the coaming after the ship structure has moved, rather than being shimmed.
| Options | |
|---|---|
| Coaming material | Steel (ST) or stainless steel (SS) |
| Coaming profile | Flat bar 80–450 × 8 (P), angled bar 80 × 40 × 6 (K), or T-bar 80 × 80 × 8 (T) |
| Coaming radius | R100 or R30 for flat coaming; R66 for angled and T-bar coaming |
| Door leaf material | Steel (ST) or stainless steel (SS) |
| Opening mechanism | Zinced, or stainless steel as an option |
| Hinges | 2 pieces standard, 3 pieces optional |
| Surface treatment | Standard painting, or custom RAL colour as an option |
| Insulation | 60 mm mineral wool on the A-class doors; 30 mm or none on the others |
| Window | None, window or scuttle, or window or scuttle with cover |
| Opening direction | Left opening (LO) or right opening (RO), to ISO 6049 |
| Special purpose | Gas tight (G) or bolted frame 80 × 80 × 8 (BF) |
Sizes. Model I covers 1,600 ≤ H ≤ 2,200 mm and Model II covers 1,200 ≤ H ≤ 1,599 mm, both at 500 ≤ B ≤ 1,100 mm clear.
Cut-out and overall size follow the coaming type and radius. For a weathertight A-class door: angled coaming adds 40 mm to H and B at R66 or R0 with an overall size of H+80 by B+80; flat bar coaming adds 20 mm with an overall of H+62 by B+62; T-bar coaming adds 70 mm at R66 with an overall of H+160 by B+160.
Painting. Steel door blade EPINOX 77, 2 × 130 µm grey; steel door frame HEMPEL SHOPPRIMER ZS 15809, 15–20 µm grey; doors with insulation under cover EPINOX 77, 2 × 130 µm grey. Optionally the blade takes HEMPEL HEMPADUR MASTIC 45880/45881 primer and topcoat in a RAL colour.

The proximity and limit switches are how a door reports its position to the alarm and monitoring system — specify them at order if the door sits in a watertight or fire boundary that has to be indicated on the bridge.
How to order
A door is specified as a single designation string. Give the product number, the door clear size, the opening direction, the coaming radius, the leaf material and the frame material and type — then, depending on what the space needs, the finish version, the lock type and the accessories.
| Format | Product no. – clear size – opening direction – coaming radius – leaf material – frame material and type |
|---|---|
| Example | BOH.0335 – 2200×1100 – RO – R66 – ST – STK |
| Reading it | BOH.0335 weathertight door, 2,200 × 1,100 mm clear, right opening, R66 coaming radius, steel leaf, steel angled-bar coaming |
For hatches the same applies, with the closure type in place of the opening direction. If the class requirement is known, give that too — it decides the insulation thickness and therefore the leaf.
Approvals
Doors are built with opening direction to ISO 6049, door holders to DIN 81406A, hatch rim locks to DIN 81312 and grease nipples to DIN 3404 or DIN 71412. Bohamet holds ISO 9001 certification for the works.
Type approval is held with ABS, DNV and to EC (MED). Class certificates — ABS, DNV, BV, GL, LR and others — are arranged per project on a case-by-case class application. Current certificates are issued with the order; ask us for the ones that apply to your class and door type before ordering.
For windows, side scuttles and glazing in the same range, see fire rated windows. Windows and scuttles can be built into the door leaf.
